Zombie Apocalypse and Cheeseburger Casserole

Have you ever noticed that in TV land, zombies can bite through a couple layers of clothing? The rest of the body is rotting away, but their teeth are stronger than ever. It’s the same with their hands. One zombie alone manages to quickly rip through flesh while the skin on their fingers is barely holding them together. Continue reading

I’d Like Some Pasta Sauce With My Wine Please

Footprints in Flour

Today was a brutal day at work. I believe the only thing that got me through it was the fact that there was a bottle of beautiful dark wine in the fridge, beckoning for me to come home. I could almost hear it calling my name….Never mind, that was my children asking me when I would be home to cook dinner. Now that I was awoken from my daydream it was time for me to go home and get to cooking.

When I arrived home I had to get going on the ingredients quick. I was really in the mood for pasta and the sauce tends to take a little while. After pulling the wine out of the fridge, I had to remind myself what I got in there for. I really needed tomatoes, green peppers, garlic and onions. Whenever I make pasta sauce I wrestle with the dilemma that I…

One Pan Cheesy Chicken Tacos, With a Splash of Guacamole (Or a Lot, Whose Judging?!)

I made some really excellent one pan cheesy tacos! Everyone went nuts over it, and there were no leftovers. I adapted a recipe from sweetcsdesigns.com. I read this amazing recipe and adapted it to my dietary restrictions. (I posted the link for reference, and I will also post what I used.) Continue reading

Gluten Free is the Way to Be (At Least That’s What My Dietician Tells Me)

My dietitian put me on a low FODMAP diet. This means, no gluten, no lactose, and no to a bunch of other stuff I absolutely love. (I can have hard cheeses though, go figure). I started this restrictive dietary process last Saturday. And what do I crave immediately? Pasta!

In a Dark, Dark Wood, I Prepped food for the Entire Week

I think I may have found a new favorite author, well second favorite (No one can replace Patricia Cornwell in my heart). Ruth Ware is proving to be a great story teller.
The first book I read of hers was “The Girl in Cabin 10”. It hooked me from the very first sentence. I am now reading “In and dark, dark wood”. I barely put it down long enough to write this post. Continue reading

Lazy Days and Slow Cooker Chili

Today is a slow cooker kind of day, not because it’s cold outside, or dreary (It’s actually really sunny). It’s all because I am feeling lazy. I have spend the last three days buying school supplies, going through the kids clothes for donations, and cutting kids hair. I am spent. I just want to curl up on the couch in my yoga pants, drink my tea, and write! Continue reading

221B Baker Street, That’s Where I Bake My Pies

Nothing gets me more excited than watching Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock Holmes! I started my day off FINALLY getting to watch season 4 of Sherlock. Even though the episodes are an hour and a half, it took me three hours to complete episode one. This was due to my kid’s inability to you know, stop being kids! They have been arguing over everything from whose turn it is to do the dishes down to what color is the best.
